BLAH! Alternator plug wiring conversion

Voltmeter runs almost in the red lately and the battery cranks like it is dying. Meter stands up to 13v promptly when you turn the ignition on and goes straight down to 8v when I try to crank. So, I obviously have a regulator problem. That's fine, as I have an extra alternator sitting on the 1987 K-10 motor on the stand in the barn.

Except for the fucking different plug that is on it. :gay: These are both supposed to be 1987's. The Suburban has a 2-blade connector on the alternator like this:

and the K-10 alternator has a 4-pin connector like this:

I noticed this right after I had the "new" one in place, of course. Replacing the regulator on the existing alternator is a PITA. Assuming I have enough wires running to the 2-blade, I can split them up and splice on a 4-pin connector instead?


I'm also going to need a battery if anybody has extras available.
