OK, so I was riding my sweet new bike last night enjoying the freedom of the open road (like us bikers do). It’s a 1979 4 cylinder Honda 750 DOHC. I prolly went around 50 miles total and right about the time I get back close to home I notice my bike is not running quite right while I am going down the road. It stops running at a red light. I let it sit for a minute or so and it starts up and runs fine for another minute or so and then dies again. This keeps happening. I notice that the right side exhaust was not making any vroom vroom (2 right side cylinders / carbs). It also seemed like it would only stop running at low RPMs and if I caught it in time and revved it a bit it might recover for a little bit. I parked it and haven’t messed with it since. It seems like it is fuel related. Is it possible that it is spark related since it is only happening on one side of the motor (1/2 the cylinders) ?? The bike had been sitting for 13 years but I have put about 100 miles on it in the last week or so with out any other problems. Any ideas?

I tried but any American bike that old that I looked at didnt run.

JK!!!!

By the way, the carbs have all been gone thru (so I am told) so I really dont think it is because they have sat for 13 years.

Motorcycles can sense when you approaching home and they sometimes throw fits and quit. Its pretty common. I think they all do that.

So maybe it just needs counseling or I need to let her run more often?

Determine if you have spark on all 4. I believe that has 2 coils each controling 2 cylinders. The coils are mounted to the frame under the gas tank..... It is possiable that one of the power or grounds got pinched when the tank was put back on OR while you were standing on it, surfing down Leroy.

Thats what I was wondering, if there were 2 coils or 4 or ??? I was planning on taking a spare spark plug with me and pulling a wire and checking for spark when it started acting up.

On another note, it seems to be running richer out of one exhaust more than the other. I am sure it still needs some tunning.

I just talkked to Chris and he said he programmed it to only operate properly for the first hundred miles, or until you made another payment.

Damn engineers are SMRT.

Dont you have to go wash your hands, or sterilize you door hinges or clean the souls of your shoes or something useful like that.

I guess I could park it next to your Jeep on blocks.

OK I think I found the main problem. It seems as though my PET COCK was tainted. Possibly some debris from the gas tank after sitting so long clogged my PET COCK. I took of the tank, put the PET COCK to on and it drip drip driped out of my PET COCK. Then I switched it to reserve and it started to flow. I am still getting a slight miss out of the right side exhaust. Maybe I fouled some plugs when my PET COCK was acting up.

Nothing worse than the dribbling COCK. A penicillin shot should clear that up, or a rebuild kit for the COCK, there should be such a thing.
