ok this was discussed at rocks and valleys today and this will be great. We will set up a trailride at rocks and valleys in the spring. Im not mustache chairman but i think mustaches would be important for this ride.

spare tire challenge rules:

remove your normal wheels and tires.
install your spare tire challenge wheels/tires.
maximium tire size 31"
no beadlocks allowed
tires must be 1/4 tread or less. or if better than 1/4" tread tires must be more than 15 yrs old and have dry rot.

a new trophy will be made and a vote for best tires/wheeling performance of the day will be awarded.

Now if you were to limit it to any size wheel/tire combo 33 & under I might be interested.

I'm in. I think this is gonna be a blast.

I think I even have enough tires in the barn to have a spare or two.

as a moustache founding member and chairman I approve this challange...however I need to find some tires as I have none...I had a set but I let a friend borrow them and they no longer hold air :crying: But yes this sounds like a great idea, however this does not replace the moustache run in the summer and moustaches WILL be manditory

I'm interested. Is there a class for people dumb enough to run 16.5" stock tow rig rims?

Quit asking stupid questions. Just make the rules.

How do you determine 1/4 tread?

If the tread looks like it might aid you in traction, then there's too much.

Naw, I don't buy that. There needs to be some criteria other than a bunch of cry babies whining that something not fair.

Maybe the rule should be that tires chosen shall never have been deemed "mud terrain" or "all terrain" tires, only "M&S" or "all season" in construction.

Any tire must show wear indicators, or have sufficient dry rot to leak air to 0 PSI within 30 minutes. (any tread pattern for dry rot)

Tires deemed to have too much tread will be subject to burnout-tuning.

thats awesome, time to dig out the old trans tracs.......not only dryrotted......but full of leaves and frozen swamp water. I wonder what ever happened to my old desert dogs

If this gets serious I have a pile of about 150 old dryrotted tires and wheels off all my parts trucks if people are looking

DO showing cords/ exposed wires count as traction aids????
