The proof is in the pudding. Finish this thing so I can point and laugh and tell you how well my leaf springs work.

Your work looks phenominal, I just can't get it through my head that the rear will work "as well" as it would if the shocks were mounted perpendicular to the ground.

thanks, if you want some persuasive pudding go look how far my shocks are leaned over in my engine swap thread, they aren't much less than jims are.

What's the criteria and what's it being compared to?

Jim, Ryan, my dad, and I spent about 10 hours out there today made a lot of progress. the front has been cycled and its time to do the finish welding, the rear has a little more work but it'll get done.

enjoy.

Because I have to make a comment:

Won't the TRE on the pitman arm hit the tie rod when the steering box is anything but centered and close to full stuff?

no, they move through the stroke together and maintain that clearance the whole way. worst case is about 1/8" for the pitman arm TRE body to the tie rod as it passes by.

Jim still need a frame back half? j/k I just cut mine off and it was damn near rotted too. It was starting to flake up on the bottom and half way up. It was packed with shit too. Not cool. Looking good too, almost there huh?

We started out looking for a new back half and quickly decided to customize it for 2 reasons. First, why install a 15-20 year old frame that was prone to collecting shit in it? Second, we could customize it to acheive a better package.

Tab, I hear your deadline is end of July. Gonna make it?

Actually my deadline is august 6th with enough time left in the day to load my jeep on the trailer. I should make it, I just need my shocks and steering (last of the big ticket items) then put it all together. Need to finish my front axle first though, oh and swap in the auto and do the 40hrs of electrical that goes with it. I planned on cutting off the frame for the simple reason that I wanted to make something that gives me more room. There is no need for the way too wide frame back there if I'm getting rid of the coils anyway. Plus making my own tank so I dont need the factory tank mounts either.
