the trans swap was made a few weeks ago.... the 904 is/was at hosers.

does the trans work?

What vehicle was that 904 out of? Justin installed it last night after I put the manual VB in it, and the crank position sensor is a different style. Also, it required the use of a different style converter than my 94 YJ 904.

Pulling out the engine, trans, t-case, radiator and fuel tank tonight. hoping to pull the 23 sp. input from my t case and bolt the case to my th400 and bolt that to a bare sbc block and set it in the frame for mockup. Engine rebuild will not happen until I finish paying for the engine, but I should be able to start making my engine mounts, new crossmember, fuel system and radiator mount. Should be fun..... I was looking for a project.

So Xjeeper and I installed the bare 350 plus intake/tbi/filter, oil pan, heads, complete exhaust, waterpump and crank pulley in the jeep the other day for a mockup. Everything fit really nice, so last night we made some engine mounts fit and got everything tacked in. I had to go back to my fuel cell so I cut a square out of the bed, re-routed some fuel lines and planned out where to mount the pump.... fuel system almost complete. We bent up a harness bar for behind the seats aswell as 2 12" tall hoops that stand on the harness bar and support the back of the seats. Mounting the radiator and fans that I wanted to use looked like it was going to be a problem, but after some deep thought ( ) we figured it out and t is going to work out pretty slick. Justin completed moving the steering box forward 3" and it came out :thumb: . Steering is complete. I have a serious problem concerning a transfer case. Last time I ran this drivetrain I ran the flipped 300 = $$$ Right now I'm stuck because I need something driver drop with a 32 spline input. Any ideas?

Still need to:
mount fuel pump,
seat tie-ins that will lower the seats 3"+
finish weld the cage
frame tie-ins/ rock rails
front limit straps
bleed brakes
probally build new driveshafts
trans crossmember
traction bar
hood hoop
re-build 350
wire and fire

I'll try to get pics next time i'm over there.

ford 205, clock it flat to get it outta the dirt. I thought I read somewhere you can swap chevy 32 spline inputs into ford cases. Otherwise whatta bout a 1988 and up np241 off the back of a sm465? IIRC those were 32 spline, an I think I know of one.

I guess theres nothing wrong with a 205, but I was hoping for a little more gear. A 241 would be fine except for the slip yoke. I followed the lead you gave me and talked to Wrath about the 208 input and he said its too buried in his storage to be able to find it. I think I will continue looking for a 32 spline input to put in my 208J with a fixed yoke.

When I was doing the sas on my 95 gmc, advance adapters told me that a 241 is basically a 208 on the other side, adapters etc are the same. According to the techy there any were a 241 bolts a 208 will. I wonder if a input outta 241 would work in your fixed yoke 208.

Something might even be out there for a th400 to a early bronco dana 20.

A buddy of mine has a 80's diesel chevy in his junkyard that had a slip yoked sideloader 4 speed. I can see what he did with the tcase and do a spline check.

Ill keep my eyes out for a 208 from a sm465, prolly the easiest/cheapest.

OK, yesterday I was able to source a 32 spline input and a TH400-208 adapter. Now I should be able to swap inputs and utilize my fixed yoke 208. Parts should be here tomorrow so maybe this weekend I will putt the t-case apart and do the switcharoo so we can make a crossmember. Once thats done I will rebuild the engine.

T-case is assembled and mounted in jeep to complete drivetrain mockup. J-truck 208 was a lot beefier that I would have thought it to be. I'm actually pretty impressed at how stout the internals are... I should not have a problem. Crossmember will be made tonightand then its off to hosers for the final tube work and rear 4-link.

Oh yeah, the rear driveshaft was again going to be too short so the leafs are going in the scrap pile and the rear is getting linked.

budget :rocket:

2 at 90% 2 at 80%. They are light and great. I really don't care if we trade, but I could fit a little larger and you seen to want these, so, your call.
