Square Thing goes Datsun

Kevin, the owner of "Square thing", decided a few years ago that he wanted a cab to sit in. So he sold off the square thing, and bought a 1984 Datsun 720 king cab. Then he parked it in the garage for three years and killed a bunch of goblins and shit.

Well, he finally came to his senses and in October we started building it. Jesse and I have been going over weekly and working to get it done, and we're almost done with the tube work.

The rub rails and lower rails are 2x4x0.25 and the rest is 1.75x0.120 DOM. Wheelbase is 128" and as it sits in the pic the belly is about flat with the axles (about 22") and 4" up travel.

Basic specs are Chevy 5.3, TH-400, NP203 and a D300 with 4:1 kit, D60/14-bolt with 4.56 and detroit lockers. Up front there's 14" travel Fox 2.5 air shocks that'll have about 6" up travel, and out back are 16" 2.0 Sway-a-way coilovers and will have about 8" up travel. Still running the 44" Swampers on double beadlocks.

Very, very cool. Best use of a 720 that I have seen in a while (and way more attractive than the square thing :btchfight: )

Canada is not in my plan this year unless I do a November run up to Curly's.

Yeah, you're a rock star now. Can't wheel with the common folk.

Looks great Kevin. Or is this Crystal's new ride?

When's the maiden voyage?

It is Kevin's, I just happen to have a login here so I posted a couple more pics for him. No date set for maiden voyage, the tedious work has yet to begin. Besides, when I said we rolled it out, we did exactly that....rolled it...by hand LOL

This project was finally finished. It was at R&V last fall for the "jeep give away".
