OK, heres the deal..building an uber cheap rig (as I already have basically all the parts) from a 93 Tracker...plan is to hack off the sheetmetal (rusty), except floor and firewall, build a cage, adapt a D300 case (got it, and the Tracker is just a 2wd as of now) and then a set of Toy axles, Detroit rear, 5.29 gears, full hyd steering...

what should I do for suspension F and R, thats cheap, quick to build, simple, and cheap? I'm kinda thinking of pushing the front axle forward about 4-5 inches, and the back axle out as much as 10 inches...I'm thinking along the lines of 1.4 elip rear, and then something along the lines of a Ford radius arm on the front...

tires, I have either a set of 38.5 boggers, or 35 Turdbirds...will probably swap these back and forth a bit (both sets mounted on 6 lug wheels)...

oh, and obviously, this isnt really going to be a street driven vehicle...

with all the fab work involved for the front id link it up its not going to be much more compared to leaf springs leave the back the way it was from the factory or mod it a little to push your axle back a little.

Lengthen the rear arms to your desired wheelbase, and use YJ springs up front. Its been done that way several times, and works very well, and is a very stable, predictable ride.

I agree on leafs up front and links out back.

Coil springs from another rig like a TJ are going to be cheaper and easier to setup than 1/4e. Most people sell off their stock springs pretty cheap after lifting, so a little patience and you can score a set for cheap or maybe even free.

Yeah, check with PavementPounder, last I knew he had like 3 sets of TJ coils. Those should get your rear up in the air.

deal..pm me with an address and I'll come get them...

but I'm not gonna taste them, I'll wait and see if the dog starts licking them...

YJ front= leafs? whats the approximate length on those?

I cant really afford to wait to look for parts though, we are running an obstacle course with the Morrice Lions Club in October...and I intend to have this at least close enough to done to be able to run it...

Stock YJ springs are easy to come by too. I don't know the exact length, but they are about 6 inches longer than Samurai rear springs, and the front and rear YJ's are the same length, just the front packs have more leaves. You could also do Toyota pickup rear leaf packs, guys change those out for stock Chevy pickup rear packs, that are 54" long. They don't have to mod much to get them to fit, I think just open up the shackles a bit, or move them back on the frame a couple inches (I don't pay much attention to Toyota guys).

then dont pay attention to me :alumcj: I dont play with JeEps much...
...if the springs everyone is suggesting is about the same as stock Toy rears, then I'll just use those...I have a pair or 6 laying around here somewhere...
